Stimulating The Baby In The Womb: Methods And Benefits

Stimulate the baby in the womb: methods and benefits

One of the best moments during pregnancy is when you first feel your baby moving. Did you know that you can stimulate the baby in the womb to make it move? Do not miss the opportunity to learn about prenatal stimulation and its benefits.

Feeling the first kick is a big event for every pregnant woman. From just knowing that the baby is there to actually feeling it. From now on you will always feel the baby’s movements inside, and even when they sometimes feel uncomfortable, they give you peace of mind.

Prenatal stimulation is when you stimulate the baby’s different senses during the time it develops in the womb. You can strengthen the baby’s motor ability, influence its emotions and sensory development while you get to know your baby and strengthen the bond between the two of you.

It is recommended to be consistent with the stimulus exercises in the second and third trimesters, but some exercises, such as touch, can be started already during the first weeks of pregnancy.

Benefits of stimulating the baby in the womb

There are many benefits to stimulating the baby in the womb. A pregnancy can feel very long, but if you take advantage of every day and do some exercises, time will pass much faster.

Here are some of the benefits of stimulating your unborn baby in everyday life:

  • The exercises help the connection to your baby.  You will notice that what you do stimulates your baby, and feel a deep connection between you.
  • The exercises are good for the child’s development.  Each exercise focuses on a mind and a specific step in development, so everyone is helpful in their own unique way.
  • They give you peace and quiet.  When you notice how your baby reacts to the exercises, the anxiety you may have about how the child is feeling inside is lowered. You feel that the baby is there and feeling good.

The following exercises are linked to different senses,  so it is best to vary the exercises daily.

No matter what exercises you do, neither you nor your baby will be bored by them. Remember that the more you enjoy the different activities, the more your baby will enjoy.

Visual stimulus. After about four months, the baby can feel light, and respond to visual stimuli.

  • Let the sun shine on your bare stomach.  The light will gently find its way through all the layers of the child.
  • Play with a flashlight.  Flash with a flashlight on the stomach to catch the baby’s attention and evoke a reaction.

Sound stimulation. These exercises are more effective after week 14, but you can start earlier than that.

  • Talk to your baby.  Never stop talking to your child. Your voice is the best stimulus your baby can get.
  • Play calm music to calm the child.
  • Walk in nature. The sounds from nature stimulate the child.
  • Play different instruments.  Soft piano melodies or a flamenco drum can provoke different reactions in the baby.

Touch. The importance of touching and caressing begins already in the womb, especially after weeks 6 and 7.

  • Experiment with different materials on your skin,  such as a feather or a brush.
  • Pat  your stomach, vary between using your fingers together and one at a time.
  • Massage the stomach.  By using different amounts of pressure, the child will react in different ways.
  • Respond to the child’s movements.  When the baby moves, respond to the movement by applying a light pressure to the place where the baby moves. It will be a perfect interaction between the two of you.

Motor skills. The baby moves when you change position, so try changing position. Already in week 10, the child notices that you are sitting and lying down in different ways.

  • Pregnancy yoga is very good for this type of stimulus.
  • Try different modes at home. Change side of the bed or lean forward with your stomach as you get up.

Some foods can also trigger the baby’s movements. For example, chocolate. But it is not recommended to eat too much of anything just to get the baby moving.

What will you test, or what did you do during your pregnancy, to stimulate the baby in the womb?
