The Best Job I Could Ever Ask For: Being Your Mother

Despite my academic scores and professional goals, I can say  that the best career choice I have ever made, without a doubt, is to be your mother.

Believe me, of all the paths I have traveled and all the titles I am most proud of, I would not choose the ones that institutions like universities have given me.

Nothing goes against what you learn in the real world. Or rather, at the university of life.

The truth is that parents are not the only ones who have a lot to teach. Our children become our teachers too. Yes, even if they are so small, they have a lot to teach us.

Being your mother has given me endless lessons

Being your mother is the best career step I have ever taken. Without scheduled lessons or topics, you have willingly taught me so much about this crazy world we are surrounded by and about the mysteries hidden in this magical and wonderful life.

You have taught me how life deserves to be lived, to appreciate the happy moments offered to us, and to overcome the difficulties. To smile just because it’s comfortable, to live every day as if it were the first and every night as if it were the last.

Through your example, you have taught me what love is and how joy can be a spark to something greater. By your side, I have understood that life flows on. And that we , on our way through life, leave unforgettable traces in people’s lives. Inheritance and bequests that are not necessarily material.

By your side, I have understood what contentment and good company are. I have learned to appreciate the silence and the importance of our words. Thanks to you, I can appreciate how healthy it is to have a confidant. And how beautiful life can be with warmth and affection.

By your side, I have learned to cultivate patience and self-control. I knew how to plant seeds of preservation and steadfastness in you and me. In this way, I learned to fight for our dreams with the bravery of a million soldiers.

Being your mother is a precious treasure

Being your mother is a gift, perhaps the most precious in life. A precious treasure, and best of all, it’s just mine.

I feel happy and blessed to be your mother. It is so satisfying to see you grow, to learn and at the same time share the genuine wisdom of childhood.

To be nurtured by your unique point of view through your childhood. To see everything through your innocent children’s eyes. To witness your experiences through your filter of innocence. To be able to laugh until I get a stomach ache.

To be able to come back to childhood and let your imagination and creativity rule. To enjoy the simple and invent games, words and scenarios. To enjoy the simplest and least strenuous things. To rejoice very little and feel lucky even when I have nothing. To create, to believe. In a way, I have been born again.

To be true to myself every day. To be authentic. To show a brutally genuine honesty. To absorb the purity of the noblest soul. For this and much more, I can only thank you. For everything you’ve taught me over the years.

For all these lessons, the divine treasure is your childhood. These abilities are not taught in the schools and universities I attended. Because no one can give me more than you do every day.

And basically  because there is no title that gives me greater satisfaction than being your mother, and no greater pride than having a child like you. 

You are my greatest and most wonderful masterpiece. My best job and my biggest title. I love you so much, sweetheart!
